A timber frame can be used in conjunction with Thermacell if desired. However, Thermacell internal walls offer the added benefit of improved insulation and acoustic characteristics.
For the external walls, no timber frame is necessary. For internal walls some people choose to use a timber frame with plaster sheets both sides, as in the case with a brick veneer home. Either method is acceptable. Most owner-builders choose to use the 125mm Thermacell block for internal walls, as there is not much difference in cost if owner-builders do the work themselves.
The Thermacell block wall is far superior to the timber frame, which is merely a partition. A concrete-filled wall offers excellent sound deadening from room to room, and is acoustically superior.
It enables you to control sound transmission throughout your house, and also enables you to better manage heating and air conditioning requirements.
